Temperature effect and charge effect on phase behaviour of two-dimensional colloidal particles at oil/water interfaces.
Taiwan / Тайвань
Enhanced digital video microscopy is applied to study the equilibrium structure of a two-dimensional charged sulfate-polystyrene particle monolayer at decane/water interfaces. When the surface density is increased, a sequential phase transition, pure liquid phase—liquid-hexatic-coexisting phase—pure hexatic phase—pure solid phase, is observed. The temperature and charge effects on this two-dimensional melting transition are carefully explored.
