Silica nanocomposites fabricated on micellar template of alkyl polyglucosides.

Alkyl polyglucosides (APGs) have been used to prepare hybrid silica nanocomposite materials. A silica precursor was tetrakis(2-hydroxyethyl) orthosilicate (THEOS).It was shown that the admixing of THEOS into aqueous solution of APGs resulted in a transition into a gel state. APG served as a catalyst of sol-gel processing.
