On the negative “Corrin–Harkins coefficients” of polyionic micelles.
Japan / Япония
When the presence of a “neutrality layer” is assumed adjacent to the hydrocarbon core surface of the micelle, puzzling negative “Corrin–Harkins coefficients” observed on an ionic amphiphilic block copolymer [Pip-h2-b-PSS] can be explained in terms of purely electric interactions. The thickness of the layer is identical with that found on the “carpet layer” in the Gibbs monolayer of the same copolymer. In addition, the present electric model predicts non-linear relations between log cmc and log Cs, as is observed.
